Amazing what some paint will do!

So we have been living in this house for 3 years, it’s CUTE, but I was feeling a bit blah about it lately (probably to do with the weather outside (gray) and my general state of being (kinda gray!)

Sunshine makes me happy, and today is the first time in a long time we have seen any!!

ANYWAYS!

I was getting a little bored of our house, and since we can’t move right now, we decided to spruce it up a little bit and paint!!

Amazing what $40 worth of paint will do…

(yes we have plastic on our couches, because otherwise the dog sleeps up there and drools!!!! (ewh!)

SO SO SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better!!  It’s so light and airy now.  It’s not completely finished, as I have to figure out the mantel and I want to re-do the pillows on the couch!!

Any ideas?  What color do you think would compliment the wall color?

and thanks to the hubby for his amazing painting job!!

Have a great Monday!!  I should have a foodie type post up tomorrow!!  But glad everyone enjoyed yesterdays post so much!!

  4. i absoutely love it! (another passion of mine is home decor) i recently re-did my living room too. i love the calm feeling your room now has (mine had a similar transformation- i put a blue-ish grey on a wall) i think you should consider pops of yellow or orange. i know... bright, but i think it would be cute. whatever color you choose put on the throw pillows (i made some throw pillows recently and i was so happy with myself for getting some cheap fabric, sewing a square and filling it with ply-fil. much cheaper than buying a bunch of pillows) a deco on the mantle the same color, and then the same color on the wall somehow, in some art or maybe a valance over the window. ps i love your place! and i need to catch up on your posts i haven't been online much lately.

  5. LOVE LOVE LOVE the new colour! So calming. I would go with some soft yellow and or orange (like a light burnt orange colour) accents. Maybe even with a little blue.

Can't wait to see what you do with the place!

  6. Love it! You know how I feel about COLOUR and LOVE home decorating! I think you should get a fun really colourful, big floral print for cushions. I'm redoing my couch pillows in the next few weeks, too. I have monkies in hats (weird, I know), but I love it and searched for it (like a fool, people at fabric stores thought I was nuts everytime I asked for monkies in hats fabric). Can't wait to see what you choose!!

  7. Also, totally think you could paint your TV stand...cause you know, I paint anything that I can get my hands on. Something fun like RED. I LOVE turquoise/blue and red!

  8. Hey there Jessica, I was just going to post a Mantle redo today. I don't have an actual Fireplace Mantle like you(lucky) but i have two shelves on my wall that I use to decorate like a mantle. I will be posting it later...keep an eye out ;)

  9. LOVE IT! The old color was beautiful, but you are definitely right - this new color is so bright and light and perfect. I think deep plum would make a nice accent color, and bright canary yellow, too! But I love lots and lots of colors and the brighter the better.

  10. It looks so pretty!

And I would put plastic on my couch too if I had to worry about dog drool :)

  11. What a difference a little paint can make!

I'm horrible at design stuff, so I'll refrain from giving any ideas...but I'll be interested to see what else you do!

  12. The paint job looks SO much better - what a difference!!! I never thought I would like blue paint so much, and have never looked at anything like that in the paint store, but you have totally made me reconsider that with those pics. It is gorgeous!

  13. You have the cutest home Jessica!!!!!!

Have you considered slightly darker accent pillows!?!? I think they would tie everything together very nicely!
